Aurora’s Castle My subject is the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland California. I chose this subject because it’s always been a place of comfort and nostalgia for me whenever I visit Disneyland. It’s always the first location I go to when I arrive just because it brings me ease and a sense of solace. Given the current pandemic, visiting Disneyland isn’t possible so I wanted to find comfort through drawing the castle instead. I chose this subject because on a normal day at Disneyland, people tend to just walk through/by the castle instead of really appreciating both its interior and exterior architecture. This drawing shows the architecture of the castle but also a glimpse into the tale of Sleeping Beauty, as depicted in the deconstructed versions of the castle’s interior stained glass mixed within the foreground and background.
